Nlets User Guide Transformation
Open-Source Collaboration

The project will be completed in two phases. The first phase consisted of researching and implementing a mechanism for viewing, downloading and notifying users of content change. The Nlets team researched a variety of wiki software that in order to determine which would best meet all needed requirements. A wiki is a collaboratively-edited, information-centered website. The most famous wiki is Wikipedia.
For this project, the team chose ScrewTurn Wiki. ScrewTurn Wiki is based on Microsoft ASP.NET 3.5, can be extended and customized with plugins, and can store data using a simple, built-in file-system provider, an SQL Server, or Active Directory. ScrewTurn Wiki is free and open source, meaning that we can use and modify it without limitations.
In this case, the content of the wiki will be controlled internal to Nlets; however, access will be provided to Nlets representatives, their staff, and eligible users with a valid ORI. The Nlets team is now working on building each section of the user guide in the wiki format.
During the second phase of the project, the Nlets team will verify and update each chapter of the guide, as needed. Content will be revised or created in-house, while testing may occur via a user test with an external user.
Currently, a completion date has not been determined, but the team is optimistic it will be prior to end of Q4 2010.
