Team Spotlight - Cris Marquardt
Today, meet Christine “Cris” Marquardt, Nlets' Business Relationship Manager. She has been with Nlets for 13 years and shared her favorite part of working at Nlets (and so much more).
Q. What are the primary responsibilities of your role?
A. As the Nlets Business Relationship Manager, I play a key role in developing, growing, and maintaining solid business relationships. The typical day starts with spit shining a six-year-old for school AND singing a multitude of silly made up songs while in the car line. When I arrive back and settle in at the home office (thank you 2020), I drink a gallon of coffee, answer email, listen to voice mail, and prioritize my day. That's where ‘typical’ ends and the fun begins! My role at Nlets is extremely diverse and each day brings with it the blessings of opportunity, knowledge, and a sense of belonging to something bigger than myself. At the conclusion of each workday, I am fortunate enough to pick up a growing six-year old from school. I sit back in the driver’s seat and relive my childhood though his eyes as I listen to a detailed description of why you should not burp in class, how strong ants are, and would I like to buy an ice-cream cone for a boy who kicked the most goals at recess? I am blessed.
Q. What is your favorite part of working at Nlets?
A. I love making a difference in this world and saving lives. Why? Because the child who waits at home for mom or dad to come home at the end of a shift deserves to see their hero walk through the door. And every hero deserves the gift of kissing that child goodnight.
Q. When you’re not at work, what do you like to do?
A. I enjoy reading, playing with my dog, and watching the horses frolic in the arena. I would say that my hobby is studying people and my talent is reading them.
Q. Why did you initially choose to work at Nlets?
A. I chose to work at Nlets because of the passion previous Executive Director Steve Correll displayed when telling me about Nlets and its community. It was clear during my interview that the he loved what he did, the community he served, and the staff he cared for.
